A Thanksgiving Holiday

So last weeks Thanksgiving Holiday was a blast! The day before Thanksgiving all the alarms in our apartment complex went off with their ear-splitting siren and strobe lights in every living room! It was crazy! The fire department came and everyone was outside watching, or in their cars staying warm. It was 30-45 min before the alarm was turned off. It was SO loud! Turns out there was no fire- just someone boiling water.... stupid alarms.

As for Thanksgiving itself- Ryan's family came up to Rexburg (since most of them live here already lol) And we crammed everyone into a little apt for our thanksgiving feast. It was cozy and lots of fun- plus lots of tasty foods! Then we met up with even more people (close family friends) for dessert! It was nice to be with so many people we know and love.

As most people know, Thanksgiving is a time for reflecting upon the things we are thankful for. I just want to say how grateful I am for my wonderful husband and our marriage. Before I was married people would always tell me how hard the first year of marriage was. And then again when we were about to have our first baby people told me how it would try our marriage like never before. Well I've never had to experience any of that hardship. Yes, marriage took some getting used to (and we will always have things to work on) and yes, having a baby is difficult and emotional- but not once have I felt like what I was going through was the hardest of my life. I have been truly blessed with a wonderful husband who completes me and with whom I can talk to and work things out with.

Ryan- I am SO grateful for you and for everything you do for our little family! Words cannot describe how lucky I feel to have you as my husband. I cannot wait to spend an eternity with you, and now, our daughter as well! You are everything to me. I love you.

My latest craft projects

So I've been busy trying to be crafty in my spare time. And this is what I've come up with! Two pillows, a carseat cover and some turkey hands!

The pillows my mom got me when she was here to help out with Hailey. We got plain red so that I could be crafty with them and put my own embellishments on them! I really like how they turned out!

As you saw before, I made Hailey a baby quilt. Well, i had TONS of the same fabric from her quilt left over, so I decided to make her a car seat cover! It keeps her super warm and I love the way it looks! Plus, it matches her quilt! How cute!

For family night the other day we made thanksgiving thankful turkeys (well, mostly I made them). We tried to get Hailey told hold still while I traced her hand... it was VERY difficult, and she did not appreciate it like she should have :) haha. But in the the end it turned out cute and we wrote things we were thankful for on the feathers. Hailey is thankful for diapers, pacifiers, mommy, and daddy! :)
Overall, I think I've been pretty productive. Now I need a new project! :)

Saddest Day

Today Hailey is 2 months old- that meant a trip to the doctors. Well for those of you who are parents, you know that at your 2 month check-up you get shots. Hailey had one shot at the hospital when she was born, but they had wheeled her out to the nursery to do it. So I never saw it. Well this time I got a close up of the pain and tears. They gave her three shots in her tiny little thighs and at that exact moment it hit me how overwhelming my love for my daughter really is. The look on her face broke my heart and her screams and tears were enough to crumble me to pieces. As soon as the nurses walked out, I burst into tears and held my sweet baby until she was okay again. What I would have given to take those shots for her. Once we got home, I declared it lazy day and we chilled on the couch and in bed all day! It made me feel better :)

And Winter Begins

So this week we had our first real snow of the winter. It's here to stay ladies and gentlemen! I think that the only way to get through another frigid winter is to remind myself that it will be our last. But for now, we will just have to enjoy it! I do love the way snow and ice look... on trees :)

This weekend Ryan and I had a much needed date night- mingled with exercise. Ryan hasn't been rock climbing since August and I haven't been since even before that! So we decided to go to the rock climbing gym here in Rexburg for some fun and exercise (leaving Hailey at her Aunt Ashley's). It felt good to be climbing again, even if I was painfully out of shape! I missed it, and I know Ryan has too. We shall return to the gym often.

So today in sacrament meeting, our bishop's wife talked about provident living and food storage. I wish I was better at these things. She told a story about this friend of hers who only cooks 4 times a year- She buys about $400 worth of food every 3 months and spends a few days cooking up a frenzy and freezing loads of meals! Sounds great, but I am definitely not THAT ambitious! But maybe I should do SOME freezing of meals for emergencies and hectic nights. Thoughts? Recipes? As for food storage, I find it hard to start when I know I'm going to be leaving in 6 months and will have to drag all that food with us wherever we go. But who knows, maybe we will be needing a food storage supply within the next 6 months! Its totally possible here in Rexburg!

TIme Flies When Youre Having Fun

Life has finally settled into more of a routine. Hailey usually goes to bed around midnight (give or take an hour), wakes up at 5am or 6am to eat and then goes back to sleep until 9am or 10am. If only we could slide those hours back 2 or 3 hours- then we'd have perfection! But we like that she wakes up at 5 or 6 to eat because it forces Ryan to get out of bed and do his homework- since the mornings are really his only times to get homework done.

Ryan is driving himself into the ground with all that he has to do! He wakes up at 5 or 6 to do homework, goes to school at 8:30 and comes home at 12:20. Goes to work at 1pm. Comes home for dinner from 6-7pm and then goes back to work until 10pm. Then we relax and start trying to get Hailey to bed. But thank goodness there is an end in sight! Ryan is going to be quitting his job in December after schools is over. We decided that for our last semester we should focus on school and Hailey (especially since Ryan will be taking 19 credits). We can't wait!

Hailey is almost 2 months old! Can you believe that? She is growing so fast! I feel like every day she gets bigger and bigger. Ryan keeps saying how he can't wait for her to get a little older so she can play and be more fun... but I don't want her to grow!!! Once she becomes a toddler then she'll be a going to preschool, then kindergarten, then she'll be a teenager and graduating high school! Then, before you know it, she's all grown up and out of the house! No. No no no. She will just have to stay small forever!
